Whole School Strategies for Supporting Dyslexia: Building Inclusive Learning Environments
This session explores practical, evidence-informed strategies for supporting students with dyslexia through a whole school approach. Moving beyond individual interventions, we will examine how inclusive classroom practices, staff training, curriculum design, and school culture can collectively reduce barriers to learning. Attendees will gain insight into early identification, differentiated instruction, and the use of assistive technologies. Through real-life examples and collaborative discussion, participants will be equipped to develop or refine their school’s dyslexia-friendly framework—benefiting not only dyslexic learners, but the wider student body.
Workshop Outcomes:
1. Identify the key characteristics of dyslexia and its impact on learning beyond barriers to literacy attainment;
2. Recognise the importance of early identification and intervention using a Universal Design framework.
3. Promote a culture of understanding and support towards dyslexic students and staff.
4. Discuss access to appropriate tools and technologies literacy and learning for dyslexic students.
